Fees include accommodation, permits and permissions and guide fees. It DOES NOT include transportation from your point of origin to Merapoh, onsite transportation in Merapoh, meals and other incidentals.

Location
Sungai Yu (Yu River) Ecological Corridor

Led by certified volunteers, CAT Walks are moderate hikes on specific routes determined by MYCAT researchers and the authorities as poaching hotspots or poacher access routes into core protected forests. You must be at least 18 years old and physically fit, as each CAT Walk comprises two days of 6 hour hikes each day.

But it is not just work, work, work! CAT Walkers also get the amazing opportunity to interact with like-minded nature-loving people, and enjoy:

  1. You must cover the cost of your own travel to and from the Sungai Yu (Yu River) Ecological Corridor (car-pooling is recommended and may be arranged for you), food and other personal expenses.
  2. Cancellation must be made in writing to cat@malayantiger.net at least two weeks prior to the CAT Walk date and the participation fee will be partially refunded.

Despite both government and NGO effort and even after all the news about poachers who have been caught and the law that has been implemented, the illegal killing has not yet ceased. For all the fight that’s been fought, it would seem that yet more has to be done and that depending on authorities alone is just not enough to deal with this crisis.
